Transfer Your Content From Other Social Media Planners To SmarterQueue
Switching from another social media planner?
Bringing your existing content into SmarterQueue is quick and simple. Whether you’re switching from Hootsuite, Buffer, Metricool, or Sendible, you can bring your posts into SmarterQueue using a CSV file or re-share your best content directly from your social profiles.

- Before You Transfer Content
- Bulk Importing via CSV | for tools like Hootsuite, Buffer, Metricool, and Sendible, plus others that let you export posts as CSV files.
- Import From Your Social Media Profiles | for already published posts or tools like Later and Agorapulse, which don’t support CSV export.
Before You Transfer Content
To make sure your imported posts appear correctly in SmarterQueue, take a moment to get your account ready:
- Add your social profiles so SmarterQueue knows where your posts will publish.
- Create or edit your Categories to organize your content by topic or theme.
- Set up your Posting Plan to tell SmarterQueue when to post for each Category.
Once these steps are complete, you’ll be ready to import your content.
Bulk Importing via CSV
Many social media planners let you export your scheduled or published posts as a CSV file, which you can then import directly into SmarterQueue.
If your current tool isn’t listed, check its export options or contact its support team to request a CSV file. Most will provide one on request.
Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with CSV files. The process is simple, and you only need a few columns to get started.
Ensure Correct Column Structure
Your CSV must include all eight columns below, in this exact order.
You can leave any column blank if you don’t have data for it, but do not remove or rearrange columns, as this will cause the import to fail or misplace information.
| Column | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| A | Post Text | The main content of your post. |
| B | Link | The URL you want to include (optional). |
| C | Image(s) | Direct links to images (must be publicly accessible). To add multiple images, separate URLs with commas. |
| D | Scheduled Time | Format: yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm (5-minute increments only). |
| E | Category | Must match an existing SmarterQueue Category. |
| F | Evergreen | Write Evergreen to recycle posts. |
| G | Post Title | Required for platforms that use post titles (e.g., Pinterest). |
| H | First Comment | Supports Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. |
📝 Note: SmarterQueue reads your CSV based on column position, not column names. If you delete or move any column, your import may return an error or place information into the wrong fields. For detailed formatting guidance, see 🕹️ Bulk Upload Posts Using A CSV File.
Below, you’ll find export and import instructions for some of the most common social media planners:
Hootsuite
Export Your Content From Hootsuite
- Go to Planner in your Hootsuite dashboard.
- Select Export and choose Comma-separated values (*.csv).
- Pick the desired date range for your posts and click Export.
- Save the CSV file to your computer.
Prepare Your CSV For SmarterQueue
Instead of editing the existing Hootsuite CSV, we recommend creating a new sheet for easier formatting:
- Create a new spreadsheet.
- Copy the "Content" column from your Hootsuite export into Column A and rename it "Post Text".
- If your post text includes a link, move the link to Column B and name this column "Link".
- Copy any "Media Links" into Column C and rename it "Images".
- Copy the "Scheduled Time" column into Column D.
- Optionally include information under the "Category", "Evergreen", "Title", or "First Comment" columns to organize your imported posts.
📝 Note: Make sure your spreadsheet includes all eight columns in the correct order (A–H). You can leave unused cells blank, but do not delete or rearrange columns to avoid incorrect imports. For step-by-step guidance, see 🕹️ Bulk Upload Posts Using A CSV File.
Buffer
Export Your Content From Buffer
Buffer’s export feature is available through Analyze, which lets you download a CSV of your published posts:
- Go to Analyze in your Buffer dashboard.
- Choose the social channel you want to export data for.
- Select the date range for your published posts.
- Click Export as... and choose CSV.
- Save the file to your computer.
📝 Note: Buffer’s export focuses on performance data and may not include post images or full text captions. If your CSV only includes analytics information, you may need to manually copy your post content from Buffer’s Publish tab into a spreadsheet.
Prepare Your CSV For SmarterQueue

Import From Your Social Media Profiles
Some tools don't let you export post content as a CSV (for example, Later or Agorapulse). In this case, we recommend contacting their support teams and requesting an export.
Alternatively, you can still bring your top-performing posts into SmarterQueue by re-sharing them directly from your social media profiles. This option lets you repurpose posts that have already proven successful and give them a second life with new audiences.
Follow the steps in 🕹️ Find And Import Content From Your Social Profiles to import content from your own profiles, or 🕹️ Find And Import Content From Social Profiles Beyond Your Own to share from other creators and sources.
