Google Business Post Settings And What They Mean
When creating a Google Business Profile post, you can include a Call-To-Action Button to direct customers to a specific page.
Options include “Learn More”, “Book Now”, “Order Online”, “Sign Up”, and “Call Now”.
If you select a Call-To-Action Button, ensure you provide a valid URL.
📝 Note: Once you've selected a button, you can choose to remove the link from the post text if preferred (for the Google Business Profile). If not, both the button and the link will appear in the final post.
Google Business Post Requirements
To ensure your post meets Google’s guidelines, follow these key requirements:
- Post Caption Limit: 1,500 characters
- Media: One image per post (15 Mb maximum, 250x250px minimum resolution)
- No Videos or GIFs
- No Link Previews, but you can use a Call-To-Action Button
- Business Verification: The Google Business Profile must be verified to post content. Verify your location to successfully publish content.
You can review additional information on media guidelines and platform limitations here.
How To Check Your Google Business Post Analytics
Google stopped providing post-engagement stats via API as of February 20, 2023.
While SmarterQueue no longer receives Google Business Profile post analytics, you can still check some performance metrics for posts published before this date:
- Click "Publish" in the top menu, then select the "Queue".
- Filter for “Published” on the left-hand side to review past posts.
- Use additional filters to refine results by social profile, Category, content, post timing, and more.
- For each Google Business post, track:
- Impressions – The number of times the post was displayed to users.
- Clicks – The number of clicks on the Call-To-Action Button.
📝 Note: For posts with both an inline Bitly link and a Call-To-Action Button, SmarterQueue will display the higher number of clicks.

Troubleshooting Missing Profiles When Connecting
Can’t find your Google Business Profile when connecting to SmarterQueue?
This usually means you’re logged into the wrong Google account, your business isn’t verified, or you don’t have the correct permissions.
Make sure your business is verified:
To connect with SmarterQueue and publish content, your Google Business Profile must be verified in the Google Business Profile Manager.
📝 Note: If your business is not verified, it won’t appear in the list when connecting to SmarterQueue, and/or posts may fail with a "not authorized" error.
Confirm that you’re signed into the correct Google account:
SmarterQueue pulls in Google Business Profiles associated with the Google account you use during the connection process:
- Visit https://business.google.com to confirm you’re seeing the correct business(es);
- If needed, sign out and log in to the Google account that owns or manages the profile.
Confirm you have the right permissions:
To connect a Google Business Profile to SmarterQueue, your Google account must have one of the following roles:
- Owner
- Manager
If you're listed as a Site Manager only, you won’t be able to connect the profile or publish posts.
Try connecting again:
Once you’ve confirmed verification and permissions, return to SmarterQueue and reattempt the connection from the Profiles page.
📝 Note: If you’ve connected this account before, reconnecting refreshes permissions and may resolve the issue.
If the profile still doesn’t appear:
- Try reconnecting in an Incognito/Private window.
- Clear your browser cache.
