TikTok Post Settings And What They Mean
When creating a TikTok post in SmarterQueue, you’ll find additional TikTok Settings are required upon selecting a TikTok profile:
1. Audience Visibility allows you to choose who can view your post.
If your TikTok account is public, you can choose between Everyone, Friends (followers you follow back), or Only You. If your account is private, your content will only be visible to your approved Followers, Friends, or Only You, meaning it won’t be discoverable by non-followers.
2. User Interactions control how others engage with your video.
The Comment setting determines whether users can leave comments on your video:
- Duet allows another creator to post your video alongside their own in a split-screen format.
- Stitch lets them incorporate a portion of your video into their own.
- Duet and Stitch require a public account.
3. Promotional Content settings are required if your post promotes a brand, product, or service. In this case, you must disclose it to maintain transparency.
If you're promoting your own brand, select Your Brand to mark the post as promotional content. If you're endorsing another business, select Another Brand to label the post as a Paid Partnership.
These options align with TikTok’s content disclosure settings and do not affect your video’s reach.
TikTok Post Requirements
When creating a TikTok post in SmarterQueue, it's important to follow TikTok’s technical requirements to ensure your video uploads and publishes successfully.
Captions can include up to 2,200 characters, giving you room for detailed descriptions, hashtags, and mentions. Hashtags (#) and @mentions of TikTok usernames can be included in the caption, and they will become clickable links once the post is published on TikTok.
Videos must have a frame rate between 23 and 60 frames per second (fps) and should ideally follow an aspect ratio of 1:1.95 for best display. However, TikTok accepts videos with dimensions ranging from 360px to 4096px on either side, whether width or height.
Video length plays a key role in TikTok’s format. Your videos must be at least 3 seconds long and can be up to 10 minutes in duration.
Since videos require processing after upload, TikTok does not support the “Post Now” option. All TikTok posts must be sent to the Queue/scheduled or saved to Drafts first.
