Navigate Sub-Queues, Views, And Post Order In The Queue
The Queue is where you can see all your social media posts that are ready to be published. The “Upcoming” section of the Queue shows posts that are scheduled to go live soon, whether they are part of an automated Posting Plan or manually scheduled. This allows you to view, manage, and adjust posts before they are published, giving you full control over your content flow.

What Is The Queue?
The Queue displays your scheduled posts in a timeline, giving you a clear, organized view of what’s coming up next. Posts are sorted by their scheduled date and time, whether they’re manually scheduled or using Timeslots from your Posting Plan.
All content is combined into a single, chronologically organized timeline, making it easy to see what’s scheduled across all your social profiles. This ensures your content is published as planned, with visual cues helping you distinguish between manually scheduled posts and those set by your automated Posting Plan, so you can quickly identify the scheduling type at a glance.
The Queue also lets you preview content, filter and reorder your posts, and make last-minute edits before publishing. Learn more about the Queue and its features in our main article.

What Are Sub-Queues And How Do They Work?
When you create a post, you select both a Category and the Social Profiles where it will be published. The same applies when you set up Timeslots in your Posting Plan. Each combination of Category and Social Profile creates distinct sub-queues within your overall Queue.
Each sub-queue operates independently, following its own set of rules that you set up when assigning individual Timeslots in the Posting Plan for that Category and Social Profile combination. For example, the posts in the "Promotions" Category for Facebook might follow different publishing times than the posts in the same Category for Instagram, or the posts for a different Category, depending on how you’ve set the Timeslots for each.
These sub-queues allow SmarterQueue to handle your content efficiently, ensuring that posts in each combination of Category and Social Profile are published according to the unique schedule you’ve set. While everything is displayed in the main timeline of the Queue, behind the scenes, each sub-queue follows its own publishing plan.
If needed, you can use filters to view posts within specific sub-queues, making it easier to focus on certain categories or social profiles. Learn more about filtering in our detailed article.
How Can I View My Upcoming Posts?
There are two primary ways to view your upcoming posts:
- List View: This shows your posts in the order they will be published. You can:
- Drag and drop posts to reorder them.
- Edit or delete posts directly from the 3-dot menu on each post.
- Check detailed stats for recycled or recurring content.
- Duplicate posts to create new content starting from existing ones.
- Week View: This gives you a calendar-style overview of the upcoming week. You can:
- Edit or delete posts directly from this view.
- Duplicate posts are to be used as a starting point for new content.
The same filters can be applied in both views to help you sort and narrow down your Queue’s content.
Common Questions
1. How can I tell if a post is automated or manually scheduled?
Manually scheduled posts show a pin icon in the upper-left corner, helping you distinguish them from posts that are part of your automated Posting Plan. You can also filter posts by scheduling type in the Queue.
2. Why are some posts not appearing in my Upcoming section?
If a post is missing from the Upcoming section, it might be in the Paused or Unqueued sections due to missing Timeslots or an intentional pause in publishing.
3. Why does my Queue stop at a particular date?
The content in your Queue may currently only be scheduled up to that date. Check if you have any Paused or Unqueued posts (e.g., posts without Timeslots assigned for certain Category and Social Profile combinations). Additionally, Evergreen posts display only their next iteration in the Upcoming section. Once published, they’ll move to the bottom of the Queue and be scheduled again.
4. Where are my Variations in the Queue?
Posts with Variations show up in the Queue one at a time - specifically, the next Variation scheduled to be published. Once a Variation is published, the post will reappear in the Queue with the following Variation, ready to be scheduled again based on your Posting Plan or manual scheduling.
