🕹️ Store And Reuse Media In The Media Library

The Media Library is a powerful tool for storing, organizing, and reusing your media files, making managing content across multiple posts and campaigns easier. You can upload media from your own device, import free images from Pixabay, Unsplash, and Giphy, paste them from a URL, or design them in Canva.

How To Access The Media Library

  1. From the Post Editor:
    • While creating or editing a post, click the “Add Media” button in the Post Editor.
    • Select “Media Library” to access your stored media files and select any you want to reuse in your current post.
  2. From the “Publish” Section:
    • Navigate to the “Publish” section from the top menu of your dashboard.
    • Click on “Media Library” to view and manage all your saved media.

How To Upload Media To The Media Library

To upload media, click the “Add Media” button:

  • Upload content from Your Device: Browse your computer to where your media files are stored, then select the images, videos, and GIFs you want to upload. You can select and upload multiple files at once. 
  • Additional Options:
    • Import Free Images: Choose from Pixabay, Unsplash, or Giphy to add free images directly to your library.
    • Paste from URL: Add media by pasting the URL of an image directly into the Media Library.
    • Design with Canva: Open Canva directly from the Media Library, create your design, and import it into SmarterQueue.

📝 Note: Drag and drop is available inside the "Add Media" window, not directly on the main Media Library page.

How To Find Media In The Media Library

Use the filter panel on the left-hand side to display content based on multiple options:

  • Type: Filter by images, videos, or GIFs.
  • Origin: Filter by media uploaded from your computer, web sources, or Canva.
  • Proportions: Filter by wide, square, or tall media.

Filters can be combined, making it easier to find specific types of media in your library.

How To Add Alt Text To Media In The Media Library

Make your content more accessible by adding alt text (alternative text) to images and supported videos stored in your Media Library.

  1. Open your Media Library and find the image or video you'd like to edit.
  2. Hover over the media and click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Select "Edit Media".
  4. Enter your description in the alt text field.
  5. Click "Save" to save your changes.

Your updated alt text will be saved with the media in your Media Library and available when you add it to future posts on supported social platforms.

📝 Note: Alt text is supported for images on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Pinterest, and Threads, as well as videos on Threads. For more information, see Add Alt Text To Your Media.

💡 Tip: Changes to alt text in your Media Library will be available when you use that media in future posts, but won't affect posts you've already created.

To customize alt text for a specific post, use "Edit Media Properties" in the Post Editor instead.

How To Add Custom Video Thumbnails In The Media Library

Customize your videos by adding a custom thumbnail that will be saved with the video in your Media Library.

  1. Open your Media Library and find the video you'd like to customize.
  2. Hover over the video and click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Select "Edit Media".
  4. Upload a thumbnail image from your computer or choose one from your Media Library.
  5. Crop and resize the thumbnail as needed.
  6. Click "Save" to save your changes.

Your custom thumbnail will be saved with the video in your Media Library and available when you add it to future posts on supported social platforms.

📝 Note: Custom video thumbnails are supported for Instagram Feed posts and Reels using Direct Publishing, LinkedIn videos, and standard YouTube videos (excluding Shorts). For more information, see Add Custom Thumbnails To Your Videos.

💡 Tip: Changes to video thumbnails in your Media Library will be available when you use those videos in future posts, but won't affect posts you've already created.

To customize a thumbnail for a specific post, use "Edit Media Properties" in the Post Editor instead.

How To Use Media From The Media Library In Your Posts

  1. Creating or Editing a Post in the Post Editor:
    • While in the Post Editor, click “Add Media”.
    • Select “Media Library” from the available options.
    • Browse your Media Library and select one or multiple media components to add to your post. 
  2. Previewing Media in the Media Library:
    • Browse your Media Library and select one or multiple media components;
    • Click to “Share” in a post to open the Post Editor with the selected media already attached to your future post. 

How To Delete Media From The Media Library

To delete a media file, select it in your Media Library and click the “Delete” option. This will permanently remove the file from your library.

No need to worry, posts containing the media you delete won't be affected.
