YouTube Audience Settings And What They Mean
YouTube offers a setting that lets you choose who can see your video. Youβll find this option in the social profile dropdown next to your YouTube channels when selecting them in the Post Editor.
What's available to a video depends on the Audience selection:
Feature | Public | Private | Unlisted |
Posted to your channel | Yes | No | No |
Shows in the Subscriber feed | Yes | No | No |
Added to a channel section | Yes | No | Yes |
Can share the URL with others | Yes | No | Yes |
Can be commented on | Yes | No | Yes |
Show up in search results, related videos, and recommendations | Yes | No | No |
Can show up in a public playlist | Yes | No | Yes |
By default, you will need to make a selection every time you create a YouTube video post.
YouTube Post Requirements
To ensure your YouTube Shorts publish successfully, your posts must meet the following platform requirements:
Captions
- Maximum length: 5,000 characters
- Can include text, emojis, hashtags, links, and saved Snippets
Titles
- Maximum length: 100 characters
Video Guidelines
- Required format: MP4 recommended

- Duration: Must be under 60 seconds
- Resolution: Between 360p and 1080p
- Frame Rate: Between 23 and 60 fps
