Pinterest Error: Permissions Issues

At times you might see Pinterest permissions errors when attempting to post to your Pinterest Profile vis SmarterQueue.

These errors usually mean that the tokens we use to validate your identity and have access to your profile have expired.

TL;DR

Reconnect your Pinterest Profile from within SmarterQueue to solve the issue.

What Are Access Tokens

Tokens are access keys or permissions that allow an application, like SmarterQueue, to interact with your social media accounts, or in this case, with Pinterest. They are a secure way for the application to access and manage your account without needing your password.
The access tokens are initially created when you connect Pinterest accounts to SmarterQueue via your secure credentials and you grant SmarterQueue permissions for them.
These tokens will eventually expire, as they are given a limited lifespan as a security measure implemented by Pinterest. This is done to ensure the safety and privacy of your accounts.
Additionally, access tokens can be invalidated when you make changes to your accounts natively (update their names, passwords, permissions, etc.).
When your Pinterest token expires, it means that SmarterQueue temporarily loses its ability to access your Pinterest profiles. But don't worry, we always send you notifications when this happens to ensure you can take the appropriate actions and solve the matter.

Common Errors Associated With Permissions Issues

Some of the most common errors are:

  • Authentication Failed
  • Authorization Failed
  • Invalid Authorization/Authentication Level
  • Not Authorized
  • Permission Denied
  • Update Required

To Resolve

  • Reconnect your Pinterest Profile from within SmarterQueue to solve the issue.
  • Review the Pin that failed for any problematic content (e.g. a broken image, or a bad link). Pinterest won't accept a post without a valid image.
