Content Discovery: What's Changed?

We're excited to introduce the brand-new "Discover" section, a centralized hub designed to elevate your content discovery experience. Here you'll find the fan-favorite "Find Content" feature and its related content-importing capabilities.

We've also streamlined the content import process, ensuring that you'll always have a steady stream of posts to fill your Queue effortlessly.

What’s Changed Around Importing Content?

At SmarterQueue, we’re committed to providing top-notch tools that make the lives of our customers easier. While we've been continually improving the "Find Content" feature and integrating new elements into the platform, it's led to a bit of clutter over time.

While crafting this new version of SmarterQueue, we took the opportunity to restructure some features, giving rise to a refined and effortlessly efficient user experience.

The streamlined section can be found under the "Discover" hub, in the top menu bar.

We’re now making it easier to discover great content to share. You simply need to select the main source of the content, whether it’s a social platform, or an RSS feed for a blog, website, or YouTube channel or playlist you want to pull content from.

Note: The Media Library has been moved to a new home! Check out "Using Your Enhanced Media Library" to learn about the new and improved media library🎉

Depending on the platform you choose, you’ll see different options to narrow down what SmarterQueue should pull for you.

Similar to the old "Find Content" experience, you can search for posts across your connected profiles that allow this via their API (X/Twitter) and Google Business Profiles remain exceptions at this time). Simply select the social platform and then “My Feed” in the next dropdown.

We’ve also kept the option to import Facebook content from other people’s Facebook Pages. And we’ve done one better, by adding additional Instagram-specific functionalities for an even more comprehensive experience!

You can now search and bring in content from other people’s Instagram Business profiles. Additionally, you can also search for posts where you were tagged in the images 🎉

You can still refine results using search terms and content type filters, as well as choose how the posts will be sorted. Simply select your preferred options from the dropdowns.

We've also done away with the complex "Import Mode" choices and instead introduced a straightforward "Select All" option for efficiently importing posts in bulk.

Or simply hover your mouse over the posts that you’re interested in and click the checkbox to ensure they are selected for Bulk Import.

Once your selection is done, you can simply click on the “Bulk Import Selected” button at the bottom of the screen.

This will open your posts in our new bulk editor that mirrors the new Post Editor functionality, giving you fully customizable options over all aspects of post creation and scheduling.

We've also relocated the "Save Source" button to the right-hand side, for a cleaner look, but the process remains the same. Save your favorite sources to use effortlessly in the future 💪

Then find all of your saved sources neatly stored in the "Saved Feeds" section, conveniently located in the left-hand menu. And don’t forget to organize them in folders for ease of use.

To import your Feedly bookmarks, simply choose the "OPML Import" option within the "Saved Feeds" section.

How To Search For Content From Facebook and Instagram

Due to API limitations from other social platforms, we can only search and import content from others' Facebook Pages and Instagram Business profiles.

1. Using the top menu bar navigate to "Discover".

2. In the platform dropdown, select “Facebook” or “Instagram”.

3. Depending on the platform you choose, you’ll be able to search for any Facebook Page or any Instagram Business Profile to import content:

  • For Facebook, ensure the following dropdown is set to "Facebook Pages" and use the search bar next to it on the right to enter the name of the page you're looking for.

  • For Instagram, ensure the following dropdown is set to "Profiles" and use the search bar next to it on the right to enter the name of the profile you're looking for.

4. The search bar will identify matching pages/profiles and will display options - select the one you'd like to share content from, then scroll down to view all of the available posts.

💡 Tip: You can also search for posts from other Instagram profiles in which your connected Instagram profile(s) were tagged.

How To Search Content From Your Connected Social Profiles

1. Using the top menu bar navigate to "Discover".

2. In the platform dropdown, select the platform you’d like to share content from.

Note: We can only fetch Facebook Group posts from the last 90 days, due to Facebook's data-retention policy.

Note: Due to X (Twitter) API limitations imposed starting with April 29th, 2023, SmarterQueue can no longer import content from your connected X (Twitter) profiles.

3. Depending on the platform you select, there will be different dropdown options to locate your posts:

  • Facebook > My Posts
  • Instagram > My Feed
  • LinkedIn > My Feed
  • Pinterest > My Pins, My Boards

For Pinterest, if you'd like to view all of your Pins from a specific personal Board, simply select the "Boards" option.

If you have multiple Pinterest profiles connected, you’ll pick the profile you want to search, and then there will be a dropdown for all of the Boards.

4. Scroll down to view all of the posts. By default, posts will be sorted by Latest.

How To Filter And Sort Content Search Results

Filter and sort content using the dropdown lists above the search results to efficiently find the best content to import into your Queue!

Available options will differ based on the selected social platform - each one offers different options.

That said, all social platforms give you the option to search for specific terms or keywords within the posts. Also, every social platform (with the exception of Instagram) has the ability to filter based on Content type (All Content, All Links, All Photos, All Videos).

Let's take a look at some of the sorting options for each platform:

1. For Facebook, you can choose to re-arrange the content by "Latest", "Most Commented", "Most Liked", or "Most Shared".

2. For Instagram, you can choose to re-arrange the content by "Latest", "Most Commented", or "Most Liked".

3. For LinkedIn, you can choose to re-arrange the content by "Latest", "Most Commented", or  "Most Liked".

4. For Pinterest, it is not possible to re-arrange the content - the posts will default to Latest. You can choose to sort the content by "All Content" or "Links".

That said, Pinterest’s API doesn’t have a way to deliver all of the latest pins for a user. Instead, it provides a list of your boards and then the pins on each board.

The way we try to get “all Pins” is by fetching all Pins for each board in turn. However, we don’t include "group/collaborative" boards when doing this, as they can contain large numbers of pins, and from other people.

How To Import A Post

1. Choose the post you'd like to re-share and click the "Share" button.

2. You can either "Share Full Post", "Share Image", or "Share Link”.

3. After selecting the specific content you'd like to share, finish editing in the Post Editor.

Note: Keep in mind that Videos and GIFs cannot be pulled via Discover. For these posts, the media will be published as a static image, and for some platforms with a link to the video.

In the Post Editor, you can choose a Category, select the profile(s) you'd like to share to, set your Evergreen settings, and finally add the content to your Queue ✨

How To Bulk-Import Multiple Posts

Quickly fill up your Queue with high-quality content by importing in bulk!

1. Start by selecting the posts you'd like to import. You can either use the "Select all" button to start importing all of the content that was loaded (and filtered), or hover over the posts you're interested in and checkmark them for a more targeted import.

2. Once you're happy with your selection, click “Bulk Import Selected” at the bottom of the screen to open the bulk importer screen.

3a. Our brand new Bulk Importer lets you fully customize each imported post individually. This includes profile-specific customization when cross-posting, as well as variations, just like when you create a post from scratch in the Post Editor.

3b. Alternatively, you can click the “Bulk Actions” button at the top to apply the same configurations to all of the posts at the same time.

This will display a pop-up with the available configurations, including "Post Targeting", "Link Settings", and "Post Timing":

  • For "Post Targeting" you'll be able to set the post as Active or Draft, select the social profiles you're publishing to, and choose your Category. And if you're publishing to an Instagram profile, you'll also need to choose if the post should be a Feed, Reel, or Story post, and if it should be published directly (when possible) or via the notification workflow and the SmarterQueue Mobile App.

  • The "Link Settings" tab is your go-to place for adjusting the links in the posts you're importing. This includes existing or new UTMs for Campaign Tracking, as well as what link should be used in case of redirect (the original or redirected link).

  • And the "Post Timing" tab allows you to choose your preferred position for the posts in the Queue (top or bottom) and whether or not you want to use Evergreen recycling to boost engagement.

Note: You'll need to customize each imported post individually to take advantage of additional "Post Timing" options, such as scheduling for specific dates and times or having them recur.

Click “Apply Changes” in the bottom right to apply your choices to every post.

The Bulk Editor is also used when importing content from a CSV file. Any presets saved to "Bulk Actions" when importing posts via "Find Content" will also apply to content imported from CSV files and vice versa.

4. Once you’re done setting up your posts, click “Save Post” to send them to your Queue.

Congratulations! You’ve just filled your Queue up with great content in just a few clicks 🎉

How To Import From Blogs, YouTube & Other RSS Feeds

RSS feeds are a simple content distribution method that can help you stay up-to-date with your favorite blogs, websites, and social media channels.

Instead of visiting those sites constantly to find new posts, you can use SmarterQueue to locate those RSS feeds to pull in all the new content for you 💪

1. Using the top menu bar navigate to "Discover".

2. In the platform dropdown, select “RSS”.

3. Paste in the URL of a blog, news site, or YouTube channel/playlist that you want to bring in content from.

4. Based on how the RSS feed is configured, SmarterQueue will display a number of available posts for the feed:

At this time, you'll notice a number of options available:

  • Search bar: Use this to filter the results for more specific content based on keywords.
  • “Select all" button: Click to select all displayed posts and import them in bulk.
  • "Save Source” button: Save the RSS feed as a source for quick and easy access later on.
  • “Set Auto-Import” button: Set up an auto-import for the feed, to ensure that new content is pulled in automatically and you never miss a post from this source.

Note: For more information on Auto-RSS Feeds, check out "Setting Up Auto-Importers: A New Approach".

Additionally, you can share individual posts by clicking the “Share” button at the bottom of a specific post.

And you can also hover over posts and checkmark the specific ones you want, for a more targeted bulk import.

How To Save Content Sources

Save frequently visited sources directly to your "Saved Feeds" to bypass the search process.

This section, located on the left-hand side, allows seamless organization through a customizable folder system.

Common Questions

1. Where did the media library go?

We have moved the media library to its own section under "Publish"!

Read more about the exciting improvements we've made to the Media Library in "Using Your Enhanced Media Library".

2. Why can't I see other LinkedIn resources when I search for content?

At this time LinkedIn's API doesn't allow SmarterQueue to search other LinkedIn profiles for posts.

You can, however, import content already published on your own connected LinkedIn profiles, as well as import your existing content from Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram in bulk and then schedule it to your LinkedIn profile. You can also do the same for content from blogs, websites, YouTube (via RSS feed), or from other people's Facebook Pages and Instagram Business Profiles.

3. Are there any legal repercussions when re-sharing content?

We recommend that you always assume that the original content creator owns the rights to the content that you are reposting.

Some social networks highlight this in their terms of service, enabling users the right to retain what they post.

In this case, it is always best to give credit to the content's original creator by tagging them. For example "Photo by @username" may be sufficient enough.

We recommend customizing any content you curate in order to add your own flare. If you're in doubt, you may also want to contact the creator directly and ask their permission to repost their content.

4. Can I search for Pins from Pinterest boards I follow?

Due to limitations with Pinterest's API, SmarterQueue can not import content from Pinterest boards that you follow. At this time, you can only import content from your own boards.

5. Can I search for content from my X (Twitter) profile?

Due to X (Twitter) API limitations imposed starting on April 29th, 2023, SmarterQueue can no longer import content from your connected X (Twitter) profiles.

6. Why am I seeing fewer posts for some RSS feeds, even though there's a lot of content on the associated blogs?

The number of results is determined by how the RSS feed is configured.

Some RSS feeds can return as little as 10-20 posts, while the feed for a WordPress-powered blog can be set to offer vast returns, up to 200 posts.

SmarterQueue will only be able to bring up the amount of content available on the feed.

If it's your blog, then check the settings for your feed - most hosting platforms will allow you to set the number of entries available on the feed from somewhere within their settings.

In any case, make sure to scroll to the end of the results page in SmarterQueue to make it load more entries, if available.

7. How can I find and import from a YouTube channel's RSS feed?

In order to set up an RSS feed import inside of SmarterQueue for YouTube, you'll first need to find the link to the YouTube channels. Here are the steps to do so:

  • Navigate to the channel of your choice (yours or anyone else's) on YouTube;
  • Copy the URL in the address bar inside of your browser.

If you're trying to import from a YouTube Playlist, be sure to navigate to the playlist page before copying the URL. To do so you'll need to:

  • Click into the “Playlists” section of the channel;
  • Select “View Full Playlist” under the title of the list to open the general page for it;
  • Copy the URL from the address bar.

Due to API limitations, SmarterQueue will fetch links to the 15 most recent videos 💪
