How Do I Reconnect Or Refresh My Social Profiles?

X (Twitter) has made changes that severely limit access to their API. While we continue to provide X (Twitter) publishing capabilities, please note that access levels may vary for different users. We encourage you to refer to our Help Center articles for general guidance and to reach out to our support team for any questions about your specific access and limitations.

Reconnecting your Social Profiles to SmarterQueue is sometimes necessary to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Think of it like logging in again to keep things secure and up-to-date.

In some cases, social media platforms change how they work, or you might update the name of your profiles or their passwords, and SmarterQueue needs to catch up.

Additionally, these platforms may ask you to verify your connection periodically, for security reasons, or encounter specific connection bugs or issues.

In essence, it's like giving SmarterQueue a quick update, ensuring that you can continue managing your social media profiles effortlessly and keeping them safe.

When Will I Need To Reconnect A Social Profile?

Please reconnect your Social Profile if:

  • You've updated the username or icon for a social network;
  • You've changed your password;
  • A post has failed because your profile needs to be reconnected;
  • You have converted your Personal/Creator Instagram Profile to a Business Profile;
  • Your Access Token has expired or is invalid.

How To Reconnect Your Social Profiles

1. Click on the cog menu (⚙) at the top right of your SmarterQueue account, and navigate to the "Social Profiles" page.

2. Click on the 3-dot menu for the Profile you want to refresh.

3. Select "Reconnect Profile". This will prompt you to sign in to your Social Profile.

After you sign in, the name and icon of the Profile will then refresh in SmarterQueue.

Note: Your Social Profiles may become disconnected for several reasons. If we detect this happening, we will move the profile under "Disconnected Profiles" and also show a "Reconnect" button for it. This way you'll know of the issue and will be able to quickly fix it.

Note: When reconnecting Facebook Pages/Groups or Instagram Business profiles, make sure you grant full permissions, to avoid issues using SmarterQueue. We strongly recommend you grant permission to all of your Facebook Pages, Groups, and Instagram Business accounts when reconnecting every time, rather than granting granular permissions just for the one you are re-connecting. This will ensure you don't inadvertently remove permissions from other connected Pages/Groups/Profiles and that you avoid running into publishing errors that can come up due to one of the many permissions bugs in Facebook's API. It will also make it easier to add any of your other Pages, Groups, and Instagram Profiles to your SmarterQueue account in the future.

Common Questions

Do I need to reconnect my Social Profile if I change the name?

Yes! If you've kept the same profile but changed the name/username of one or more of your Social Profiles, please follow the steps above to reconnect them to your SmarterQueue account to ensure your scheduled content continues to post as planned.

Will I lose the posts in my Queue if I change the name of my Social Profile?

No, if you change the name of one or more of your Social Profiles, your content will remain untouched inside SmarterQueue! You will, however, need to reconnect your Social Profiles to SmarterQueue using the steps above as your digital token will be invalidated.

Reconnecting the Social Profiles you change will refresh them and update the name inside SmarterQueue while ensuring all of your posts stay the same 🎉

Why isn't the profile picture showing for my Instagram account?

If the profile picture isn't showing for your Instagram account, this means that it is a Personal Instagram Profile and thus shows a generic image. If you'd like the profile picture to populate and to see more in-depth analytics for your Instagram Profile, then you'll need to convert your Personal Profile to a Business Profile and connect it via a Facebook Page. 💪
